CachyOS, Steam, creepy hospital pictures.

Hey what’s up everyone? I hope you’re all doing well out there.

I’m taking a mental break after fighting to get CachyOS installed on an old 8th gen i7 I had in a box. First issue was the thumb drive I was using was garbage and extremely slow and took about an hour for Rufus to put the bootable ISO image on the drive (it sat for a long time on 97.6%) On the newer thumb drive it took like 30 seconds.

The next issue was with the laptops BIOS, the drive would not boot and I couldn’t figure out why. I did turn off a couple things that shouldn’t have had an impact and then it worked. I’ve been working on computers for 30 years and I’m not sure why what I changed fixed it, it shouldn’t have. But CachyOS is a newer ARC/Linux/whatever distro so who knows what quirks it has.

Getting steam to install was a weird process, in something like Mint you can get go and search for it and install it, this needed to be installed through terminal, not a big deal but since I had no idea what the command was I had to look it up and unfortunately the wiki wasn’t helpful but a quick google search brought up all the things I needed to install. Now installing a couple large games I bought a long while ago to see if they even run on this. If they do then maybe OBS will be next.

Below are some photos I took of a hospital I worked at after we had moved patients to a brand new facility. May have to use this for inspiration someday for a story. BTW, anyone who says hospitals are haunted are dumb. lol. We had another facility that was shut down for active hospital duty that many had died in over the years, I had been in that place alone over night many times and there was nothing. Either that or I was scarier to the ghosts then they would have been to me. Who knows.
